I made this ages ago but somehow never got around to posting it. It’s a fairly easy slice recipe and it’s oh so yummy! You could ‘spice it up’ a little bit by adding some fresh or frozen raspberries between the two layers and topping it with a few fresh raspberries too.

Marbled Chocolate Slice

Marbled Chocolate Slice (1)

For the base:

  • 180g butter
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • ¾ cup plain flour, sifted

For the topping:

  • 250g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 egg

Preheat oven at 170 C

Combine butter and cocoa in a saucepan and melt over medium heat. Remove from heat and let it cool down a little. Add sugar and eggs and mix well. Sift in flour and mix until combined.

Press mixture into a baking paper lined 28 x 18cm slab pan

Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, vanilla and egg and combine. Pour over chocolate mixture and swirl through.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until skewer comes out clean when inserted into the slice. Cool in pan and cut into slices.
